Closures at Kaloko-Honokōhau National Historical Park

Trail and area closures at Kaloko-Honokōhau National Historical Park are announced for the following days:

  • Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, 6  to 11 a.m.: ‘Aimakapā: closure of visitor center, visitor center parking, mauka/makai trail
  • Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, 6 to 9 a.m.: Closure will include park visitor center, mauka/makai trail trail and also sections of Māmalahoa Trail, Kaloko Road and Kaloko Fishpond parking area. From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., closures will only include Kaloko Road and Kaloko Fishpond Parking Area.
  • Friday Dec., 15 and 29, 2017, and Jan. 12 and 26, 6 to 11 a.m. ‘Aimakapā: closure of visitor center, VC parking, mauka/makai trail.
  • Friday, Dec.  22,  2017, & Jan. 5 and 19, 2018, 6 to 11 a.m.:  Kaloko: closure of road, parking area and picnic area.

The reason for the closure is to provide public safety during the removal of invasive non-native vegetation, as the park will be using helicopter operations.
