Under an innovative new program, Paradise Helicopters is offering guests the opportunity to “green their seat” while experiencing Hawai‘i’s incredible sights and landing locations.
Paradise is the first helicopter tour company to offer flights exclusively for the reforestation of endemic trees in Hawai‘i. Through the nonprofit Hawaiian Legacy Reforestation Initiative, guests can choose from a menu of nearly 20 tour options available for the sponsorship of koa Legacy Trees. These trees are planted for permanent reforestation in the Hawaiian Legacy Forest on Hawai‘i Island, and their growth can be tracked remotely using RFID technology.
“Our guests can now play an active role in reforesting Hawai‘i’s native trees and re-establishing critical habitat for endangered wildlife, even if they aren’t able to plant trees in person,” said Paradise Helicopters CEO Calvin Dorn.

Options include volcano and waterfall adventures on Hawai‘i Island.
Other options range from North Shore tours to a circle-island tour of Lāna‘i.
The sponsorship of seven koa Legacy Trees entitles a Paradise passenger to a half-hour Diamond Head Scenic tour that departs out of Paradise’s new Kalaeloa Airport base operation near the Ko Olina Resort area on O‘ahu.

This effort furthers the company’s longstanding commitment to environmentally sustainable operations and community stewardship through its Hoomaluo Program. Earlier this year, Paradise was awarded a Sustainable Tourism Certification from the Hawai‘i Ecotourism Association for the promotion of responsible travel.
“More than 400,000 native trees and understory species have been planted in the Legacy Forest to date, thanks to the support of tens of thousands of individual sponsors, organizations and partnerships with forward-thinking companies like Paradise Helicopters,” said Jeff Dunster, executive director of HLRI.
Paradise also offers a Carbon Offset Program, which supports the reforestation of native trees in Hawaiʻi through Legacy Carbon. Announced in fall 2016, the program allows guests to purchase certified carbon credits that will offset the environmental impact of their flight. Carbon offsets are standard on select flights, as well as all charter experiences.
