Average life expectancy for Asian-Americans in the U.S., according to data provided by NetQuote.com.

Hawaiʻi is widely recognized for having the best quality of life in the nation. But a new study shows that the Aloha State is home to the lowest life expectancy for two major ethnic groups nationwide.

People with Asian-American or Hispanic heritage in Hawaiʻi have among the lowest average life expectancy compared with the rest of the U.S., according to study results posted on NetQuote.com which analyzed people in all 50 states.

Although Asian-Americans have the longest overall life expectancy nationwide at roughly 87 years, on average, they tend to only live about 82 years in Hawaiʻi. Hispanics in Hawaiʻi have the lowest average life expectancy of any state in the country, at 78.8 years.

While Asian-Americans and Hispanics ranked in Hawaiʻi among the bottom five states for life expectancy nationwide, Caucasians in Hawaiʻi actually ranked among the top five states for average life expectancy at 80.4 years.

No possible causes for the study results were suggested in the data.
