Hawaiian Airlines recently appointed Jay Schaefer to the role of vice president and treasurer.

In the new role, Schaefer will be responsible for overseeing corporate finance, fleet financing, cash management, fuel and foreign exchange hedging, and enterprise risk management for the company.

“Jay’s leadership of complex financial operations, along with his extensive airline expertise, will allow us to continue managing our resources effectively and stay competitive in a new year of growth,” said Shannon Okinaka, Hawaiian Airlines executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Most recently, Schaefer has served in various financial planning and analysis and transportation finance roles for Amazon in Seattle. Before his time with Amazon, Schaefer spent 13 years with Alaska Air Group.

Schaefer earned his bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from the University of California in Santa Cruz, and his master’s degree in business administration from the University of Washington.
