Hawaii Public Radio To Air Kahilu Theatre Show

The audience at Waimea’s Kahilu Theatre will have the opportunity to put their applause on-air in the first of three “APPLAUSE From The Kahilu” concerts at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24.

The concert will showcase Hawaii Island Artists and will be recorded for broadcast by Hawaii Public Radio.

Sunday’s show features Ekolu Mea Nui with Sonny Lim, Kevin Kealoha and Kunia Galdeira, performance poet Michele Dalton and paniolo music from Willie-Joe Camarra and Damien de Mello.

The 90-minute show includes music, talk-story, and song, hosted on-air and on-stage by Kahilu’s Artistic and Managing Director, Tim Bostock.

“We are pleased to be partnering with Hawaii Public Radio in the APPLAUSE series, to shine the spotlight on and record Big Island artists,” Bostock said. “With tickets starting at $5, this is a chance for everyone to enjoy our local talent.”

The broadcast date for the first “APPLAUSE From The Kahilu” concert will be Oct. 26 on HPR. This is the first of three “APPLAUSE From The Kahilu” concerts happening this fall, with the second on Sunday, Sept. 21, and the third on Sunday, Nov. 16, both at 4 p.m.

Tickets are $20/$15/$10/$5 depending on seating preference, available online or by calling 885-6868.
