Free Smartphone Classes Offered in March

According to Cellular News, more than a half billion smartphones were sold globally last year, with iPhones and Samsung Androids leading the way.

In fact, 6.2 million iPhones were activated on Verizon in the US alone during 2012.

Yet not everyone who buys a smart phone knows how to use it to its fullest potential.

Verizon Wireless is offering multiple free workshops in March at its east and west Hawaii locations. The Kona store is located at 75-5595 Palani Rd., Kailua-Kona and the Hilo store is located at 315 East Makaala St., Hilo.

Workshop attendees will learn how to use special features on their phone, customize the device, and take advantage of synching capabilities.

Smartphone users will also learn how to put finishing touches on documents while on the go, how to save photos and notes to the cloud, and more.

Classes are available for the Android, Windows 8, and Apple iPhone.

The Android workshop will walk smartphone users through hardware functions, setting up email, adding social network accounts, and customizing your device.

Android phone classes will be held on the following dates:

March 10, 17, 24, and 31
9 a.m. – 10 a.m.

Hilo Verizon Wireless Store
March 7, 14, 21, and 28
5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Windows Phone 8 smartphone users will learn the basics of the device, tips on personalizing your phone, using People Hub, setting up email, using Kid’s Corner, and more.

Windows Phone 8 phone workshops will be held on the following dates:

March 3, 9, 16, and 30
9 a.m. – 10 a.m.

Hilo Verizon Wireless Store
March 8 and 22
5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

The Apple iPhone workshops will teach phone owners how to navigate and customize their device, as well as how to use features, such as Maps, Siri, FaceTime, the app store, and more.

The workshops are designed to cover all iPhone models.

9 a.m. – 10a.m.

Hilo Verizon Wireless store
March 6, 13, 20, and 27
5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
