Raclette is both the name of the cheese and the dish itself. ​It originated from the French- and Swiss-speaking part of the Alps around 800 years ago. Deriving from the French verb meaning "to scrape," it refers to the act of scraping the melted cheese onto food. We serve it over potatoes with sausages, eggs, mushrooms, and grilled cheese sandwiches! It's slowly gaining popularity on the Mainland but we'll be the first you find it in Hawai'i.
