Escape Road at HVNP to Close Temporarily

Nāhuku has been closed since May 2018 due to hazards caused by the Kīlauea eruption and summit collapse, which include loose rocks and new cracks in the cave’s ceiling.

HVNP’s Escape Road to Undergo Improvements

The roadway runs from Highway 11 to Nahuku, also known as Thurston Lava Tube, in the park.
