#Equal Rights Amendment

Several bills and resolutions were approved or adopted by one or both chambers of the 32nd Hawaiʻi State Legislature and revolving around a wide range of issues, including: guns, coffee, kimichi, sex trafficking, grounded vessels, humpback whales and active shooting drills in schools.

During the hearing, which included testimony from U.S. senators, public officials and legal experts, U.S. Sen. Mazie K. Hirono highlighted the importance of ERA ratification in prohibiting sex discrimination and fighting for equal rights for all.

“Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex…”

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard urges passage of the Equal Rights Amendment to guarantee legal gender equality for women and men under the U.S. Constitution.
