A fight at Pāhoa High School on Wednesday, that led to the arrests of several teens, was instigated by racially insensitive remarks, officials with the Hawaiʻi Department of Education confirmed Thursday, Jan. 26.

A South Kohala man faces multiple charges, including second-degree murder, following an altercation Sunday night.

A 34-year-old South Kohala man has been arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault, and another assault investigation is looking at injuries he sustained.
