Bookkeeping Workshop for Non-Accountants Offered Aug. 1

The Hawai‘i Small Business Development Center will offer a bookkeeping workshop for non-accountants in Hilo on Thursday, Aug. 1, from 9 a.m. to noon.

The workshop will be held in  of Edith Kanakaole Hall, Room K277, at the University of Hawaii at Hilo.

Entitled “Accounting 101 Fundamentals for Non-Accountants,” the workshop will familiarize new business owners with bookkeeping and accounting practices, as well as understanding financial statements.

Participants will learn about the chart of accounts, income statements, balance sheets and predicting cash flow using a projection spreadsheet.

Attendees will learn how to read and interpret these statements to understand how their business is doing financially and any area of concerns.

Constance Cate, senior business consultant with Hawaii SBDC, will teach the class. A licensed CPA in Hawai’i, Cate earned her BA in Business from the University of Hawai’i at Hilo and her MBA from Grand Valley State University, Michigan.

Workshop fee is $30. Pre-registration for the class is required as space is limited. Deadline to register is Monday, July 29.
