10 People Hospitalized for COVID-19 Islandwide
Hilo Medical Center is reporting a slight uptick in COVID-19 hospitalizations after a significant downturn.
There are currently 413 active cases islandwide with 10 people hospitalized.
On Wednesday, Oct. 27, HMC reported it was caring for seven COVID patients, three unvaccinated and four vaccinated. None of the patients are in the ICU with five in the Medical Unit and two in the Progressive Care Unit.
On Tuesday, Oct. 26, Kona Community Hospital officials confirmed they were treating five COVID cases. One was currently in the ICU and four were in the Med Surge Unit. Additionally, KCH is caring for two long-haul COVID patients.
None of the individuals hospitalized for the virus are vaccinated or on ventilators. As of Oct. 25, 2021, a cumulative total of 20 COVID-related deaths have occurred in KCH.
HMC also reports it will be winding down vaccination efforts at the Arc of Hilo, located at 1099 Waianuenue Avenue, by the end of November. Vaccinations will continue at our East Hawaii Health Clinics and with other partners in the community.
