A Pāhoa woman who escaped police custody nearly three weeks ago was once again apprehended but released by a district court judge.
Twenty-four-year-old Kelia Dallas Armstrong appeared before District Court Judge Bruce Larson on Monday on charges of second-degree escape and fourth-degree theft. Larson granted Armstrong’s release on her own recognizance.
She was ordered to appear for a preliminary hearing on March 22.
Armstrong has been wanted by Hawai‘i police since Feb. 15 after she managed to escape custody shortly after being arrested. She was again located on March 5 at a residence in Leilani Estates, where she was arrested by HPD’s Area I Special Enforcement Unit.

Armstrong remained in police custody over the weekend in lieu of $2,500 bail.
