Hilo Workshop Focuses on Listening Skills
Mediator Catherine Lampton will present “Mastering the Challenges of Listening” at this month’s free brown bag lunch event at Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center in Hilo.
The talk will take place on Aug.17, 2017, from noon. to 1 p.m. at the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney at 655 Kīlauea Ave. It is part of an ongoing brown bag lunch series made possible in part by funding from the Atherton Family Foundation
Lampton is a mentor mediator with Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center and has been co-leading and co-designing their basic mediation training since 2006.
“Listening is one of the most misunderstood and complex phenomena in the human body. Most people think listening and hearing are the same, but they are not,” said Lampton. “Discover your listening gap and how you can use it to improve your relationships and significantly reduce conflict in your life.”
Ku‘ikahi’s brown bag lunch series is open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunch, enjoy an informal and educational talk story session and meet others interested in finding peaceful solutions.
