A Small Craft Advisory is posted for the ʻAlenuihāhā channel as well as waters to the south and west of the Big Island through 6:00 a.m. Friday for east winds from 20 to 30 knots and rough seas of 7 to 13 feet. Inexperienced mariners should avoid navigating in these conditions.

Partly sunny skies are expected with scattered morning showers in windward and mauka spots. Leeward spots should be mostly sunny in the morning with building cloud cover in the afternoon and isolated showers. Hazy skies are in the forecast (see UHSOEST vog model above). Trade winds are forecasted from 15 to 20 mph with local sea breezes in some spots. High temperatures from 82° to 87°.

The windward side is forecasted to get mostly cloudy skies and scattered showers. Leeward spots are expected to get isolated showers. Trade winds are forecasted around 15 mph with local land breezes. Low temperatures from 67° to 72° are expected.
Looking Ahead
Trade winds are expected to continue blowing. Showers should become more active starting tomorrow evening and are expected to remain active through the weekend as tropical moisture spreads over the islands from the southeast, starting with the Big Island. The windward side of the Big Island is forecasted to get the most rain. Drier, breezier conditions are expected early next week.
