Swell Summary
Outlook through Tuesday August 28: Choppy surf along east facing shores will gradually increase this week as trade winds strengthen. Most importantly, Hurricane Lane is forecast to pass south and southwest of the islands this week, and will likely deliver increasingly rough surf to south facing shores as the week progresses. Be sure to monitor forecast updates on Lane as it could bring significant impacts later this week.
Surf heights are forecast heights of the face, or front, of waves. The surf forecast is based on the significant wave height, the average height of the one third largest waves, at the locations of the largest breakers. Some waves may be more than twice as high as the significant wave height. Expect to encounter rip currents in or near any surf zone.
North East

Conditions: Light sideshore texture in the morning with SE winds 5-10mph. Semi choppy conditions for the afternoon with the winds shifting to the ESE.
North West

Surf: Ankle to knee high SW ground swell in the morning builds in the afternoon with occasional sets up to waist high.
Conditions: Semi glassy in the morning with ENE winds 5-10mph. Semi choppy conditions for the afternoon with the winds shifting to the WSW.

Surf: Knee high SW ground swell with occasional waist high sets.
Conditions: Glassy in the morning with SE winds less than 5mph. Semi glassy/semi bumpy conditions for the afternoon with the winds shifting SW 5-10mph.
South East

Surf: 1-3′ overhead high ESE ground swell with occasional well overhead high sets.
Conditions: Light sideshore texture in the morning with NNE winds 10-15mph. Fairly clean conditions for the afternoon with the winds shifting to the N.
