Puna Men’s Chorus

Friday August 17 at 7 p.m. the Puna Men’s Chorus fills the Palace Theater with song and lively antics. Take part in their silent auction and appreciate the historic theater and its innate acoustics.

Tickets are available at the box office and are $15 general and $12 for students and seniors. The Palace Theater is located at 38 Haili Street in Hilo.

Another show is also taking place on Sunday at the Outrigger Keauhou Beach Resort at 7 p.m., located at 78-6740 Alii Drive in Kailua-Kona.

Rain Forest Run

On Saturday morning at 7 a.m., the quiet Volcano village will hear the pitter patter of runner’s feet. The 5k and 10k events will take runners through rainforests at an elevation of 4,000 feet, which starts and finishes at the Cooper Center on Wright Road.

Ok, there will be alcohol and a cash prize. Sounds like what most people would consider a perfect pair.

Be poolside ready and bring an appetite for barbecue and that almost trite tropical drink.

Watch as bartenders compete to make the best Mai Tai of 2012 and see a winner walk away flush with an extra $10,000.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., eat and vote on your fave barbecue, then listen to Henry Kapono jam from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

At last, watch 30 bartenders from around the world, do what they do best from 4:30 p.m.

This event takes place at the Royal Kona Resort located at 75-5852 Alii Drive, in Kailua-Kona.

Na Palapalai and Ali’i Keana’aina CD Release

From 12 noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday August 19, cultural demonstrations, presentations, food and live music will be enjoyed at the Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort.

Na Palapalai starts their show at 1:30 p.m. Ali’i Keana’aina, winner of the annual Kindy Sproat Falsetto Contest is also set to impress with amazing vocals. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.

The Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort is located at 78-128 Ehukai Street in Kailua-Kona.
