HVNP Closing Due to Strong and Damaging Earthquakes

Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park announces it is evacuating all visitors and non-emergency staff today due to a series of strong and damaging earthquakes that continue to rock Kīlauea Volcano.

HVNP reports that due to the possibility of a new eruption and unstable geologic activity, park management closed 15,688 acres near Kīlauea Volcano’s Pu‘u ‘Ō‘ō vent.
