#Hawaiian Volcanoes National Park

On Thursday morning, one day after Kīlauea began erupting at 4:44 a.m. on Wednesday, Hawaiian Volcano Observatory has lowered  alert levels because the initial high effusion rates of lava and gas have declined, and no infrastructure is threatened. 

Families are invited to celebrate Hawaiian culture during Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Parkʻs Cultural Festival in the Kahuku Unit on July 13.

Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park continues its 100th anniversary celebration through sharing Hawaiian culture and programs with the public in September.

Activity at the summit of Kilauea has no significant change over the past day. The lava lake within the Overlook crater remains at 148 feet below the crater’s rim.
