The prosecution presented evidence that Dominic Alexander Roberts engaged in dissemination of child sexual abuse material across multiple social media platforms and used cyberbullying and extortion to solicit child sexual abuse materials and other harmful content from minors.

According to police reports, a Worthington brand heavy-duty compressor with an accompanying trailer and a metal locker was removed from the property.

Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 14.

An Ocean View man initially charged in Kona District Court in connection to a domestic incident and released on bail was indicted by a Kona grand jury.

25-year-old Marty Pangelinan was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree robbery and one count of fourth-degree criminal property damage after two separate businesses along Kuakini Highway were robbed Feb. 26.

They 56-year-old is is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 6.

Indicted in May 2018, the jury returned the verdict on 42-year-old Paul Banashihan, Jr. on June 30. He was not in custody during court proceedings.

Public defenders are usually overworked, but on the Big Island the problem is exacerbated with 4 of the 15 positions (26%) currently vacant, leading to the withdrawal from cases.

A Hilo woman is facing several class A felony drug charges after she was reportedly found with methamphetamine, oxycodone and heroin earlier this month.

Jacob Kahai is scheduled to make his initial appearance on Tuesday afternoon in Hilo District Court. He remains in custody in lieu of $51,000 bail.  

On July 17, 2022, Derouin-Loando pleaded “no contest” to kidnapping and multiple charges of  domestic violence which spanned three cases before the Circuit Court.

The charges against Rodney Kaʻahu, 45, stem from an incident that occurred on Nov. 21, 2022 in the Leilani Estates subdivision.  

Kaimilani Payao, 50, remains in custody in lieu of $70,000.00 bail.  

The charges arise from an Oct. 16 incident on the shoulder of Mamalahoa Highway in Captain Cook and a Nov. 2 burglary from a residence on 34th Avenue in Orchidland.
