County representatives were part of a two-day training program administered by the Hawaii Island Task Force last month, which included representatives from the Kauai Police Department, the Kauai Safety Bureau, the county prosecutor’s office, the county housing agency, health care providers, and various nonprofits.

“Office space that was previously available to Hawaiʻi Police Department at the Kona airport prior to the Federal Inspection Service Center opening will soon be available again,” said Hawa’i Department of Transportation Director Ed Sniffen.

The signs included the messages: One pill can kill; Fentanyl kills; and Narcan saves lives.

In the past two months, a teenager has died from a drug overdose and a teenager and a young adult have died of suspected drug overdoses, police said.
