17 motorists arrested for DUI week of Oct. 14-20
Seven of those DUI arrests were made in Kona. Hilo, South Kohala and Puna had 3 each and one driver was arrested for DUI in Kaʻū. Seven of those drivers were involved in traffic crashes. Two of them were younger than 21 years old.

Six of those arrests were made in Kona, followed by Hilo with 4. South Kohala had 2 DUI arrests, with and Kaʻū and Puna each having 1.
Hawai‘i Island police report 15 DUI arrests last week
Eight out of the 15 motorists arrested for driving under the influence were in Kona.

Kona had the most DUI arrests during the week with 8. Hilo came in at a close second with 6 followed by Puna with 5. There have been a total of 564 DUI arrests so far this year around the island.

Police: 17 motorists arrested for DUI during week of March 6-12
During the week of March 6-12, 17 motorists were arrested for DUI. Five were involved in traffic accidents; one of the drivers was younger than 21 years old. So far this year, there have been 211 DUI arrests compared with 231 during the same period last year, a decrease of 8.7%.

To help keep the Big Island safe, the Hawai‘i Police Department is teaming up with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to spread the message about the dangers of driving under the influence of an intoxicant.
