Looking Ahead

High pressure building northeast of the islands will bring breezy trade winds this weekend and early next week, with winds diminishing by the middle of next week. The trade winds will focus clouds and showers over windward slopes and coasts, with some showers occasionally spreading leeward. An approaching low aloft will bring unstable conditions this weekend, with windward areas receiving occasional soaking showers, especially on the Big Island and Maui county. Thunderstorms are also possible over the eastern end of the island chain this weekend, with a chance of winter weather over the Big Island summits.
