Update: Missing endangered 14-year-old located in good health

Update at 3:54 a.m. May 17: Hawai‘i Island police report that 14-year-old Kawelo Lancaster, who was reported as an endangered missing juvenile, was located at 8:15 p.m. May 14 in good health in Pāhoa.

Hawai‘i Police Department thanks the public for its assistance in this case.

Original updated post from 7:16 p.m. May 13: Hawai‘i Police Department is asking the public for its assistance with finding 14-year-old Kawelo Lancaster, who has now been misssing for nearly 2 days.

Kawelo was initially reported as a runaway; however, police are now saying he is considered a missing and endangered juvenile because of concerns for his well-being and safety.

He was last seen at about 9 p.m. May 11 on Pīkake Street in Kurtistown, wearing a black T-shirt and black shorts.

Kawelo is about 5-foot-7, weighs 145 pounds, with short curly black hair, a tan complexion, thin build, brown eyes and a mole on the left side of his face near his left eye. 

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to call Hawai‘i Police Department’s nonemergency line at 808-935-3311.
