National Weather Service Honolulu reports the High Surf Advisory will remain in effect until 6 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2019.
SURF: 6 to 9 feet along east facing shores of Kaua‘i, O‘ahu, Moloka‘i, Maui and Big Island tonight, rising to 8 to 12 feet late Friday through Saturday.
IMPACTS: Moderate…Expect strong breaking waves, shore break, and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for Maui and the Big Island. Through Friday afternoon, April 12, 2019.
A broad upper level low nearing the Big Island from the east will remain in the area through Friday. Cold air aloft and instability associated with this upper feature combined with plenty of moisture will lead to periods of heavy showers and thunderstorms. Rainfall will become heavy at times, potentially leading to flash flooding. Although most of the activity will focus over windward areas with strong trades in place, heavy showers and thunderstorms will also remain possible across leeward areas.
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions are favorable for flash flooding. Flash flooding is LIFE THREATENING. Do not cross fast flowing water in your vehicle or on foot.
Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action if a Flash Flood Warning is issued. If you experience heavy rain or rising water, head to higher ground immediately.
A Winter Weather Advisory for Big Island Summits above 11,500 feet remains in effect
A broad upper level low nearing the Big Island from the east will remain in the area through Friday. Cold air aloft and instability associated with this upper feature combined with plenty of moisture will bring periods of snow for the Big Island Summits through Friday night.
Snow and ice accumulation is occurring. Plan on slippery road conditions. Additional snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches is expected.
A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use extreme caution while driving.

The Flood advisory for the Island of Hawai‘i has been extended until 4 p.m.
At 1:06 PM HST, radar indicated bands of heavy rain and thunderstorms near Orchidlands Estates extending north to Laupahoehoe. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour.
Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Hilo, Hawaiian Acres, Laupahoehoe, Orchidlands Estates, Hawaiian Paradise Park, Glenwood, Pepe‘ekeo, Kea‘au, Pāhoa, Hōnomu, Mountain
View and Papa‘ikou.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for Hawai‘i Island for the areas from Hāmākua, Hilo and Puna.
A Flood Advisory is issued when flooding is expected or occurring. Problems such as flooding in low-lying areas and areas of poor drainage, as well as minor flooding of streets and roadways are possible
An island wide Flash Flood Watch issued by the National Weather Service is in effect through Friday.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a Flood Advisory for Hawai‘i County until 1:15 p.m.
At 10:10 a.m., radar indicated heavy rain moving onshore near Orchidlands Estates extending north to Laupahoehoe. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour.
Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Hilo, Hawaiian Acres, Orchidlands Estates, Pepe‘ekeo, Kea‘au, Hawaiian Paradise Park, Pāhoa, Honomu, Mountain View, Papaikou, Ninole and Hakalau.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding.
Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.
Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on foot. Turn around, don’t drown.

WINDS: NE 20 to 30 mph with localized gusts to 50 mph are expected across the South Kohala district of the Big Island. Winds will be strongest over and immediately downwind of
mountains.
IMPACTS: Winds this strong could down tree branches and cause localized power outages. Motorists, especially those in high profile vehicles, are urged to drive with extreme caution.

A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of at least 30 mph, or gusts of at least 50 mph, are expected. Motorists should use extra caution.
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR BIG ISLAND SUMMITS ABOVE 11,000 FEET
A broad upper level low nearing the Big Island from the east will remain in the area through Friday. Cold air aloft and instability associated with this upper feature combined with plenty of moisture will bring periods of snow for the Big Island summits through 6 a.m. Saturday night.
Plan on slippery road conditions. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches, with localized higher
amounts, are expected.
Be prepared for reduced visibilities at times in snow, along with blowing and drifting snow.
