Kea‘au-Pāhoa Road Restriping Update

The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation provided the following update on the Kea‘au-Pāhoa Road, 4-Lane Re-Striping Project, Kea‘au Town (Mile Post 2.0) to Shower Drive (Mile Post 4.0).

Work is scheduled to begin Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, to remove rumble strips in preparation for the project, also known as Kea‘au-Pāhoa Widening, Phase 1 (KP1), Mileposts 2-4.

The preparation work will involve removal of rumble strips in the centerline of Highway 130 as well as rumble strips along the makai shoulder.

More information on the scheduled weekend work will be made available through the HDOT website.

Temporary pavement markings restoring the existing three-lane configuration will be installed following the preparation work.

The permanent lane markings creating four lanes on Highway 130 between Mile Post 2 and Mile Post 4 are scheduled to be completed later this year.
