Last November, the pair was arrested in a case unrelated to their son’s disappearance. A search warrant was executed on their home in Ainaloa involving a welfare fraud investigation. Items involving drugs and ammunition were found in the home. Jaylin Kema was charged in the investigation, while Peter Kema Sr. was released pending further investigation.

Prosecutors reopened the missing child’s case two years ago.
