The Hawai’i Police Department says the body of a man was found under a bridge along the Hamakua Coast Friday morning.

According to HPD, officers responded to the Nanue Bridge in the Umauma area after receiving a 9:10 a.m. call reporting that a lifeless body was seen at the bottom of the bridge, located near the 18 mile marker of Highway 19.

A coroner’s inquest has been initiated and Area I Criminal Investigations Section detectives are currently investigating the incident.

This is the second body found in the area this week. On Monday, a woman’s body was found in Umauma stream. She was later identified as missing Kona woman Bobbie “Jackie” Carnathan.
