The Waiakeawaena Park playground in Hilo closed for renovation today, the latest in a series of playground improvements across the island.

The park’s ball fields and recently renovated Andrews gymnasium will remain open during the reconstruction, although the work will have a minor effect on the main ball field’s right field area.

The work is scheduled for completion in June.
