Two Pahoa residents have been charged with first-degree robbery in connection to an incident outside of a Pahoa restaurant.

32-year-old Steven Stoesser and 35-year-old Lisa Yurkovic were arrested Monday afternoon after allegedly beating and robbing an unidentified 32-year-old Pahoa resident.

According to the police, the man was stopped and was asked if he had marijuana on him. When he replied that he did not have any, he was struck in the back of the head by the female suspect. The other suspect also hit him in the head, both with his fist and with the victim’s skateboard, knocking the victim unconscious. He is being treated for serious injuries at Hilo Medical Center

Stoesser has also been charged with first-degree assault. His bail is set at $50,000, while Yurkovic’s was set at $5,000. Both were scheduled to appear in court Tuesday afternoon.
