Twelve aspiring pharmacists hailing from Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi Island, Kauaʻi and Puerto Rico are enrolled in the online program’s first cohort.

Theresa Chang completed an incredible journey from addiction to academic success, accepting her bachelor of arts degree in communication from University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo during the Dec. 20 fall commencement ceremony.

Yukumoto, a 1993 graduate of Hawai‘i Pacific University, has been associate head coach since 2019 after serving 13 seasons from 2006-18 as head coach at his alma mater, finishing with a 362-272-4 record and as all-time wins leader for the Sharks.

Ceremony, which is limited to invited guests and not open to the public, is scheduled for 9 a.m. at Vulcan Gymnasium on the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo campus, located at 200 W. Kāwili St. in Hilo; a livestream will be available for others to watch.

Join Hawaiian Volcano Observatory staff and its partners Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo and Hawaiʻi County Civil Defense in January 2026 for a series of programs around the island that will discuss eruptions and earthquakes, how Hawaiian Volcano Observatory scientists monitor them and the hazards associated with them.

Both University of Hawai‘i at Hilo sophomores were voted to the All-PacWest First Team and Garcia was named the conference’s Newcomer of the Year; Garcia also receives honors from American Volleyball Coaches Association.
