#Kona Crime Prevention Committee

The member of the 101st recruit class, who served in Kona since May 2025 upon graduating to solo patrol, was named Officer of the Month for April for his actions the morning of Oct. 28, 2025, that led to saving the life of a 51-year-old man.

Kona Crime Prevention Committee honored Officers Charles Caldwell-Kaʻai, Tyler Meno, Jason Cunefare, and Lawrence Matsumoto for exemplary work in 2025.

Field Training Officer Alysa Gamache and Officer Kastle Quiocho from the Hawaiʻi Police Department have been recognized as Officers of the Month by the Kona Crime Prevention Committee for their professionalism.

Lt. Kevin Brodie is set to speak and Officer Michael Gusman will be honored during the Kona Crime Prevention Committee luncheon this Wednesday.

The Kona Patrol officer was recognized for arrests he made on March 3.

Officer Makena Nahooikaika was honored as Officer of the Month for April, Officer Margot Babauta and Officer Curry McFadden for May and Officer Collin Roberts for June.

Officer Roberts has worked in Kona Patrol since completing his field training following his graduation from the department’s 95th recruit class in June 2022, for which he was class president.

The officer was recognized during an awards ceremony put on by the Kona Crime Prevention Committee at Huggo’s on the Rocks in Kona, on Jan. 4.

Hawai‘i Police Department Detective Anson Caceres was named the Kona Crime Prevention Committee’s Officer of the Month for December.

Kona Patrol Officer Elijah Won took into custody Martin Medina, a federal fugitive from Mexico who was suspected to be involved in criminal activity, including the stealing of vehicles and illegal narcotic distribution.
