Kauaʻi Community College’s honeybees are among the last disease-free hives in Hawai’i

Bee populations in the United States are declining due to a parasite called the Varroa mite that’s also been found on Oahu and the Big Island. Kauaʻi Community College’s Apiary Project has one of the few disease-free honeybee sites left in the state.

Big Island Beekeepers Host Honey Challenge

The Big Island Beekeepers Association held the formal judging for the 10th annual Hawaiian Honey Challenge on Saturday at the Komohana Agriculture Research Station in Hilo.
