Sunday Clay – High Fire! is an eight-week workshop beginning Sunday March 12 until May 7, from 11:30am – 2:30pm or 2:45pm – 5:45pm. Cost for either session is $185/$166 for VAC Members plus a $13 materials fee for 6 lbs of clay, including glazes and firing. Additional clay will be available for purchase.
These classes will be an introduction to working with and firing mid-range stoneware. Emphasis will be on learning and refining wheel throwing skills, and the possibilities of stoneware glazes. Eight registration slots are open to “wheel throwers”, and two additional places will be open to “hand builders”. Beginners as well as continuing students are welcome.
In both the morning and afternoon classes, Erik will focus on making work for stoneware reduction firing, and in the afternoon class, Emily will offer techniques for decorating and glazing stoneware for electric kiln firing.
The session will include "wet work" with clay on six Sundays: March 12 - April 16. No class on April 23 (to allow time for pieces to dry before firing) and then glazing will take place on April 30. The final glaze firing will be held in one of our local Volcano potter's kilns, with kiln opening and potluck to follow on Sunday, May 7th.Share this Event:
