As the current north-northeast swell continues to decline tonight along north and east exposures, a new short-period east swell will begin to build along east facing shores of the Big Island on Tuesday, and late Tuesday into Tuesday night for the smaller islands. The swell is expected to peak on Wednesday and gradually decline Thursday through rest of the week. * SURF...Building to 8 to 12 feet along east facing shores of the Big Island on Tuesday. Building to 6 to 10 feet late Tuesday along east facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, and Maui. 10 to 15 feet along north facing shores of Kauai through tonight. * TIMING...Through 6 AM HST Thursday along east facing shores and 6 AM HST Tuesday along north facing shores of Kauai. * IMPACTS...Moderate...Expect strong breaking waves, strong currents making swimming dangerous.

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for * Kahoolawe, Lanai, Maui, Molokai and the Big Island. * Through Tuesday afternoon * A band of deep moisture will move over the eastern half of the state and stall through Tuesday. Convective showers within this band will likely trigger heavy rainfall and thunderstorms over the Big Island and Maui County. This band is expected to move eastward Tuesday night and Wednesday, though this Flash Flood Watch may need to be extended if heavy rains linger.

Total snow accumulations of 5 to 10 inches. * WHERE...Big Island Summits. * WHEN...Until 6 AM Wednesday. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Be prepared for icy roads and rapidly decreasing visibility at times. Roads to the summits will likely be closed due to these hazardous winter weather conditions.
