Aloha Performing Arts Company artistic director Jerry Tracy will portray his fellow Missourian Samuel Langhorne Clemens in “Mark Twain Rides Again,” a limited engagement at the Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu, Nov. 22, 23, and 24.
This year’s show features new material from Twain’s autobiography, as well as an interview with a special mystery celebrity guest in the second act, said a APAC release.
“Mark Twain Rides Again” is a quasi-historical account of Twain’s visit to the Big Island in 1866, following his arrival by ship in Kailua, an epic mule journey through Kona and Ka’u, and his exploration of Kilauea Volcano. Twain’s stories include his observations of nude female swimmers, attempting to surf, visiting Kealakekua Bay, and the origin of the Mark Twain Monkeypod Tree in Waiohinu.
Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m. and a Sunday matinee is at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $20, $17, and $10, available online at AlohaTheatre.com, by phone at 322-9924, or at the box office beginning one hour prior to performance time.
