The University of Hawaii at Hilo’s pharmacy school will hold its Health Fair on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Prince Kuhio Plaza.
This is the fifth year in a row the event has been held by the Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy.
It will include live demonstrations, entertainment, education booths, free giveaways and a keiki poster contest.
There also will be a “brown-bag” station in the health screening area where people are encouraged to bring their non-refrigerated medications for review.
Other organizations taking part include the Alzheimer’s Association, Bay Clinic, Civil Defense, Hawai`i Senior Medicare Patrol, HMSA, Hawai`i Island HIV/AIDS Foundation and R. Weinstein Pharmaceuticals and Medical Supplies, the college said in a press release.
“National American Pharmacists Month is celebrated annually during October, so we would like to invite the community to help us recognize the value of our profession by coming to the mall and meeting our students,” said Forrest Batz, assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice who will be one of the faculty members helping students at the Health Fair.
