Police are asking for the public’s help identifying human remains found last week in a vacant lot on the south side of Ololi Road in Kailua-Kona.

Officers responding to a report shortly after 7:30 a.m. Friday found the decomposed body of a white male believed to be between 50 and 60 years old.

An autopsy conducted Friday indicated he died of natural causes.

The man was described as about 5-foot-3 and 150 pounds. All his upper teeth were capped.

He was wearing shorts made of a sweatshirt material, water socks and had a jade crucifix hanging from a string around his neck.

Police found a dark backpack near the body, and they believe he may have been living on the lot.

Anyone with information on the man is asked to contact Det. Joshua Lewis at 326-4646, ext. 228, or at [email protected].
