A judge today granted a motion for a mental evaluation of Jeremy Todd Rios, the man accused of last week’s carjacking in Hilo.

Circuit Judge Glenn Hara granted the request made by Rios’ attorney, Stanton Oshiro, and set a Sept. 10 hearing for the results of that examination.

Rios is being held at Hawaii Community Correctional Facility with his bail set at $61,800.

Rios was the focus of an all-day manhunt on July 30 after he allegedly crashed his car into a pickup truck and stole a car from a woman stopped by the collision.
