Mark Yamanaka to Kick Off `Imiloa After Dark

Award-winning musician Mark Yamanaka will kick off `Imiloa Astronomy Center’s new evening series `Imiloa After Dark on Friday, Aug. 9.

Yamanaka will talk-story and play various selections from his debut album, “Le Pua Kenikeni.”

The album won Yamanaka one of his four awards in the 2011 Na Hoku Hanohano competition. Along with Album of the Year he also won Song of the Year for his original song, “Kaleoonālani,” and also took home top honors for Most Promising Artist and Male Vocalist of the Year.

Tickets for the event are $15 for non-members and $12 for members. Tickets may be pre-purchased at the ‘Imiloa front desk or by phone using Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or JCB, by calling (808) 969-9703 during regular business hours.  Tickets are non-refundable.
