US Sen. Mazie Hirono has unveiled a new website designed to make it easier for her online constituents to request assistance from Hirono’s website and to provide feedback on key issues.
Described as a “virtual office,” the website is designed to bridge the geographical gap between the broad expanse of the Hawaiian Islands to her Washington D.C. office.
“With our beautiful chain of islands stretching more than 1,500 miles from Niihau to Hawaii Island, and nearly 5,000 miles separating our state from the nation’s capital, this new virtual office allows me to serve Hawaii residents across this great state no matter where I may be,” Hirono said in a statement issued today.
“The new website is the easiest and fastest way for Hawaii residents to get in touch with me and make their voices heard on critical issues facing the state and nation,” she said. “Constituents can also request help from me and my office in a number of areas – from information on internships to help with a federal agency.”
The website’s tabs include “How Can I help,” where information is available for such activities as navigating a federal agency, obtaining internship information, making flag requests or scheduling a meeting with Hirono or a member of her staff.
At the “Contact” tab, Hawaii consitutents can send Hirono messages on their views facing the state and country. With standard security measures in place for postal mail sent to congressional offices, this is the fastest way to get a message to Hirono, the statement said. One can also use the tab to sign up for emailed newsletters from Hirono.
The website also provides information on Hirono and key legislative issues, as well as links to her Twitter and YouTube pages.
