UPDATE: Missing Wainaku Man Located, Returned to Family

Hawaiʻi Island police have located a 68-year-old Wainaku Man reported missing on Friday.

Paulo Vakautafefine was found a short distance from his Wainaku home, police said on Monday.

After being examined by paramedics Vakautafefine was returned to his family.

Posted at 1:39 p.m. Friday, April 26:

Police are looking for a 68-year-old Hilo man who has been reported missing.

Paulo Vakautafefine left his home on Mokuhonua Lane in the Wainaku area sometime between 4:30 and 6:30 a.m. today.

Police said he has medical conditions that could cause him to become disoriented.

Vakautafefine does not have a vehicle or a cell phone.

He was last seen wearing a sweater with red, white and blue stripes, gray cotton shorts and no shoes.

He may be in the Wainaku or downtown Hilo areas.

Anyone with information on Vakautafefine is asked to call the police department at 935-3311.
