A 21-year-old woman who escaped from the Hale Nani Correctional Facility early Sunday was captured that afternoon.
Police said a tip from the community helped them locate Awar at 3:50 p.m. in upper Wainaku.
Shaylyn Momi Araw, who was being held at the facility for various property crimes, was charged Sunday evening with escape. Her bail was set at $10,000.

Police received a report at 7:30 a.m. Sunday that Araw had escaped Hale Nani by scaling a 15-foot fence.
According to the police department’s website, Araw had been charged with burglary several times since 2012.
The most recent occurred last month after she and a Pepeekeo man were charged with first-degree burglary, a class “B” felony, and theft in connection with break-ins in Pepeekeo and Ninole.

She was also charged last year in connection with burglaries that occurred in June and July in the Pepeekeo area.
