A public meeting will be held on Friday, April 19, to discuss proposed improvements to a portion of Kuakini Highway in Kailua-Kona.

The section of the roadway involved runs between Hualalai Road and the future intersection with the proposed Ali`i Highway.

Three alternatives are being considered, two of which involve widening the road from two lanes to four lanes.

The meeting will be held at the West Hawaii Civic Center, Building A, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

The meeting will also allow the public to provide input on the draft environmental assessment for the project. Comments on the draft document are due by April 22.

The DEA is available for review at the Kailua Library, at the Department of Public Works at the civic center or at the Office of Environmental Quality Control website.

The meeting is being coordinated by public works and the Federal Highway Administration.
