Police are asking for the public’s help solving a theft from the World Botanical Gardens in the North Hilo district.

Sometime during the night of Feb. 14, or early the next morning, someone stole a black Segway personal transportation and two 25-gallon cans filled with gas.

The Segway stolen was the X2 model, which is the “off-road” version of the two-wheeled transport.

The gardens are located on the Old Mamalahoa Highway in Umauma, about 17 miles north of Hilo.
