High school students and adults of all ages are encouraged to attend a free college and career event from 8 a.m. – 12 noon this Saturday at Kauhale ‘Oiwi o Pu‘ukapu, 64-1043 Hi‘iaka Street, Waimea.
The event is sponsored by Kanu o ka Aina Learning Ohana with federal funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services and with participation by community agencies and schools.
Representatives from Hawaii Community College and University of Hawaii Center West Hawaii, UH-Hilo North Hawaii Education and Research Center, Workforce Development, and Hawaii Small Business Development Center will share their in-depth knowledge, providing access to tools you need to explore your college and career options.
The event will feature three different workshop sessions with multiple talks to choose from per session.

The workshop sessions run from 9:15 a.m. – 10 a.m., 10:15 a.m. – 11 a.m., and 11:15 a.m. – 12 noon. There are multiple talks to choose from during each session including:
Starting college and college mechanics
Going back to college
Attending college as current high school students either early admit or running start
Attending college as home-schooled students
How to apply for financial aid
An introduction to online learning
Starting a business
Changing careers
Job seeking
