President of NRA To Speak Tonight in Hilo

The president of the National Rifle Association will speak tonight in Hilo at a meeting of the Conservative Forum for Hawaii.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the Crown Room at the Naniloa Volcanoes Resort on Banyan Drive.

NRA President David Keene will speak on the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution and other issues including laws regarding concealed weapon permits.

An attorney, columnist and political activist, Keene was to attend the Hawaii Friends of NRA Oahu Dinner at the Officer’s Club at Kaneohe Marine Corps Base on Sunday to present awards to the new 2012 Hawaii Varsity State Air Rifle Champions. Waiakea High School swept both the boys’ and girls’ team championships.

This morning he was to meet in Kona with Island of Hawaii Friends of NRA for a briefing on the West Hawaii Public Range project.

Organizers said this will be the first time a sitting NRA president has ever visited Hawaii in an official capacity.

There is no charge to attend the forum’s meeting. For information call its president, Walter Moe, at 966-5420.
