It was a long wait to find out who earned the PacWest Conference’s women’s soccer awards for the early weeks of the season, but for the University of Hawai`i at Hilo women’s soccer program and sophomore Kristine Pasek, the wait was worth it.

The conference announced Monday that Pasek had earned the “Player of the Week” award for the second week of the season, covering games played between September 3 – 9.

The Vulcans went 2-0 during that week with wins over Western Oregon and Chaminade in Honolulu. In the 3-1 win over Western Oregon, Pasek scored a second half goal off of her team’s corner kick. She had two shot attempts on the match. She scored a pair of first half goals in her team’s 5-1 rout of Chaminade on September 8.

On the season, the lady Vulcans are 3-4 as they head into tonight’s road contest at Dixie State in St. George, UT. Pasek leads her team with six goals and 19 shot attempts. She also has a pair of assists to give her 14 points overall, which is also a team high.
