Congresswoman Colleen Hanabusa issued the following statement after 12 Russian intelligence officers were indicted for interfering in the 2016 election:

“A dozen Russian intelligence officers are indicted and Trump wants to talk story with Putin. Since Trump won’t standup for our country and do something about Russia’s attack on our democracy, the meeting should be canceled,” said Rep. Hanabusa “Today’s charges bring the total to 32 indictments and multiple guilty pleas as a result of the Special Counsel’s investigation and they support the January 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment that the Russian government directly interfered in the 2016 election by targeting the Democratic Party. The indictment outlines how the intelligence officers hacked Clinton campaign officials, the Democratic National Committee, and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, illegally obtaining emails and other information. The information was strategically released in a coordinated effort to undermine Secretary Clinton’s campaign and Democrat’s efforts during the 2016 election. The Special Counsel’s investigation must be allowed to continue, free from interference by Trump and his GOP supporters.”
