UH Hilo presents Abe Lagrimas Jr. Jazz Trio at the Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at 7:30 p.m.

Lagrimas will serve up his blend of jazz stylings on ʻukulele, vibes and drums accompanied by Dean Taba on bass and Noel Okimoto on drums and vibes.

“Abe is a versatile multi-instrumentalist who began his musical journey when he first sat behind the drums at the age of four, but quickly gained an interest in other instruments,” said PAC Manager Lee Dombroski. “He is now highly proficient on the vibraphone and the ʻukulele, and continues to perform throughout the world on all three instruments in many different musical situations.”

Lagrimas recently appeared with Taiko Master Kenny Endo for his 40th Anniversary Tour. He has also performed with a variety of notable artists in the U.S. and overseas, including Michelle Coltrane, Azar Lawrence, Eric Marienthal and Lalo Schifrin, along with Indonesian jazz pianist Dwiki Dharmawan, Japan pop singer Kiyotaka Sugiyama, and singer, songwriter and actor Martin Nievera of the Philippines.
